Founded in 2000 by Ryan Spoon, beRecruited was first created exclusively for NCAA swimming and diving and now serves over 500,000 athletes and coaches from 18 different sports as the largest recruiting service online. Russell Cook, owner of VentureMob, served as CTO of beRecruited from 2003 until it was acquired by RVS Ventures in October 2007. During his time there Russell had the pleasure of working with Ryan to create an unrivaled recruiting platform that has been prominently featured in such places as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and on CNN.com.

The beRecruited service was an especially challenging project since it required development of specialized recruiting tools in addition to social networking features such as user networking, personalized blogs, and photo/video uploading – all at a time when these weren’t as readily available as they are today. Ultimately the platform was able to scale to serve 100,000s of users generating 10M+ pageviews/month.
