Launched on January 31, 2009 – AreaStartups.com is a service designed to track startup companies across North America and Europe in each major city. Area Startups leverages a number of existing data sources including Crunchbase, Compete and Quantcast to help keep it’s list of companies current and help compare the listed startups.

One of the main features of the site is it’s Startup Trackers such as the New York Startup Tracker and San Francisco Startup Tracker each of which are updated monthly. Additionally, Area Startups helps aggregate relevant startup related news articles and job postings for each city it covers.

To market Area Startups we have heavily leveraged social media and worked hard to help connect startup entrepreneurs. From it’s LinkedIn Groups to over 20,000 followers on Twitter, we have been able to effectively reach and engage our target audience to become a part of the startup communities we serve.
